  • Projects solved at the department
The scientific orientation of the department is focused mainly on solving current tasks in the construction industry and is focused mainly on solving the following problems:
    • experimental analyses and theoretical problems of diagnosing engineering and building structures, experimental analyses of building materials, theoretical problems of evaluating and determining the residual service life of building objects, experimental analyses and theoretical problems of diagnosing engineering and building structures, experimental analyses of building materials, theoretical problems of evaluating and determining the residual service life of building objects,
    • optimization of technological processes of construction and reconstruction of buildings, management of processes of technological changes from the point of view of innovations,
    • assessment of the quality of building materials, technological processes and structures, testing of materials, mixtures and structures,
    • design of optimization of construction processes from the point of view of yield analyses,
    • decision-making processes, strategy of rehabilitation of engineering structures, maintenance and optimization methods in infrastructure management, asset management.

The following research projects have been and are currently being addressed at the department :

    • Research Center of the University of Žilina
Grant scheme: Operational Program Research and Development 2007-2013 .
Measure: 2.2 Transfer of knowledge and technologies acquired through research and development into practice
The strategic objective of the project was to build an internationally accepted Research Center and improve the infrastructure of UNIZA with the aim of increasing the competitiveness of Slovakia by transferring research and innovation results into practice. 8. 11. 2019 8:52 VV 2019, VV-F Mandatory curriculum for applied research and development, 10/ 20

      Efficient and coordinated transport infrastructure
      Grant scheme: Horizon 2020
The ECOROADS project aimed to develop a common, enhanced approach to safety issues on road infrastructure and in road tunnels using the concepts and criteria of Directive 2008/96/EC on road infrastructure safety management and the results of two related studies by the European Commission (EC) on Directive 2008/96/EC on road safety management and Directive 2004/54/EC on tunnels.

Implementation of new diagnostic methods for the needs of optimizing the service life of pavements
      Grant scheme: VEGA
Solving the issue of optimizing the service life of pavements in an international context. Ensuring theoretical and practical consistency between the design and control of qualitative parameters of earth structures and their components. Defining boundary conditions when measuring and determining a unified system approach in the context of their quantification. Objectifying correlation dependencies enabling correct interchangeability of used control procedures and characteristics.

Modernization of ISEH by subsystem: Optimization program
Grant scheme: SSC Bratislava, research tasks
Creation of an optimization decision program model. Defining input data requirements for the ISEH economic evaluation system. Creation of decision-making procedures for calculating the optimal repair year and for determining the optimal road repair technology and determining the optimal financial requirements for road repairs and maintenance. Creation of homogeneous sections according to the optimal technology and optimal road repair year.

Improving coordination and planning of freight transport in a defined region
Grant scheme: Interreg Central Europe , call 2, Improving coordination and planning of freight transport on Trans Tritia Project territory (TRANS TRITIA CE960)
The aim of the project is to define and model the throughput of border crossings in a defined regional territory. Proposals for increasing capacity and economic relations.
